Erin Iturriaga, D.N.P., is chief of the Health Research and Development Programs Branch in the Division for Research Capacity Building. Iturriaga oversees the IDeA Clinical and Translational Research Network (CTR-N) programs and also manages Native American Research Centers for Health (NARCH) grants.
She has a research and regulatory background in biomedical, data, and nursing sciences, from basic science to transformative technology and large clinical trials. Prior to joining NIGMS, she was a program officer and clinical trials specialist in the extramural program of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.
Iturriaga received a B.S. degree in health sciences and an M.S.N. degree from George Washington University. She earned a D.P.N. degree from Yale University. Her research at Yale used the transition theory to develop a tool for improving medication continuity for older inmates transitioning from prison back into the community.
