Tony Beck.

Tony Beck, Ph.D., is a program director in the Division for Research Capacity Building, where he oversees the Science Education Partnership Award (SEPA) and STEM interactive digital media small business (SBIR/STTR) programs. He also manages the IDeA Networks of Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE) program.

Prior to joining NIGMS, Beck managed the SEPA program in the Office of Research Infrastructure Programs in the former National Center for Research Resources, where he also managed the Clinical and Translational Science Awards Program and human embryonic stem cell infrastructure programs. He started his NIH career in 2000 as a scientific review officer at the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism. He worked for three Maryland area biotechnology companies before coming to NIH. 

Beck earned a B.A. and M.S. in biological sciences at the University of California, Riverside, and a Ph.D. in cell and molecular biology from the University of California, Irvine. He conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and the Eleanor Roosevelt Institute for Cancer Research.
