Chi-Wing Chow, Ph.D., is a program director in the Division of Genetics and Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology. He administers research grants in the areas of chromatin and epigenetic mechanisms. He also administers the Pathways to Independence Award (K99) and serves as Point of Contact for the Collaborative Program Grant for Multidisciplinary Teams (RM1).
Prior to joining NIGMS, Chow was a scientific review officer at the NIH Center for Scientific Review. He was also an intramural scientist at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, where he examined molecular mechanisms of genetic bone diseases. Before NIH, he was an associate professor in molecular pharmacology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he utilized transcriptional regulation, cell signaling, and mouse genetic models to elucidate the molecular basis of obesity, metabolic complications, and exosome biogenesis.
Chow received his B.S. and M.S. in biochemistry from Iowa State University and his Ph.D. in molecular physiology and biophysics from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He conducted postdoctoral research in stress kinases and calcium signaling at the University of Massachusetts (UMass) Medical School (now named UMass Chan Medical School).
