Miljan Simonovic, Ph.D., is a program director in the Division of Pharmacology, Physiology, and Biological Chemistry, where he administers research grants covering enzyme mechanisms, regulation and inhibition, enzymology of nucleic acid modifiers, trace metal transport and homeostasis, metallobiology, metallo-biology, the design and synthesis of chemical probes, and bioengineering and synthetic biology. In addition, Dr. Simonovic administers F32 postdoctoral fellowship grants and institutional T32 predoctoral training grants in Biotechnology.
Prior to joining NIGMS, Simonovic was a professor in the department of biochemistry and molecular genetics at the University of Illinois Chicago. He earned a B.S. and M.Sc. in biochemistry from the University of Belgrade in Serbia and a Ph.D. in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of Illinois Chicago. He conducted his postdoctoral research in biochemistry and molecular biophysics at the University of Illinois Chicago and Yale University.
