Biographical Sketch: Peter Lyster, Ph.D.

Peter Lyster, Ph.D., is a program director in the Division of Biophysics, Biomedical Technology, and Computational Biosciences, where he manages grants in molecular modeling, theory, and design. He also plays an active role in the NIH Biomedical Information Science and Technology Initiative. He was also recently on detail to the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) National Coordination Office for IT Research. Prior to joining NIGMS, Lyster was a program director at the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering and also served in the Center for Scientific Review, NIH. He earned a B.S. in theoretical physics and electrical engineering from Adelaide University and a Ph.D. in applied physics from Cornell University. Lyster conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Texas at Austin and Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He worked several tours of duty at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory and Goddard Space Flight Center.
