Lumy Sawaki-Adams, M.D., Ph.D., is a program director in the Division for Research Capacity Building, where she manages grants for the Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) program, the Institutional Development Award Networks for Clinical and Translational Research (IDeA-CTR), and the Support for Research Excellence (SuRE) programs.
Prior to joining NIGMS, Sawaki-Adams was an associate professor and Cardinal Hill Endowed Scholar in Neurorehabilitation Research at the University of Kentucky. She held appointments in the Departments of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Neurology and was faculty associate at the Spinal Cord and Brain Injury Research Center. She received her medical degree from the Federal University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, and her Ph.D. in clinical neurophysiology from the Kobe University in Japan. She completed a post-doctoral fellowship in clinical neurophysiology at the National Institutes of Health.
