Zuzana Justinova, M.D., Ph.D., is chief of the Physiology and Clinical Sciences Branch in the Division of Pharmacology, Physiology, and Biological Chemistry, where she oversees research grants in the area of anesthesiology, perioperative pain, and ion channels.
Prior to joining NIGMS, Justinova was a staff scientist in the Behavioral Neuroscience Research Branch at the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), where she conducted preclinical research on drug addiction and medication development. Prior to that, Justinova was a research assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Justinova earned her M.D. and Ph.D. in medical pharmacology at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic. She was a postdoctoral fellow at NIDA.
