Baishali Maskeri, Ph.D., is a program director in the Division of Genetics and Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology (GMCDB). She oversees research grants in the areas of regulation of cell death pathways, autophagy and maintenance of cellular homeostasis. She also manages grants in the areas of membrane biology and organelle biogenesis. In addition, she manages predoctoral training grants in the areas of cellular, biochemical, and molecular sciences.
Before joining NIGMS, Maskeri was a scientific review officer overseeing the Genomics, Computational Biology, and Technology study section at the Center for Scientific Review, NIH. Prior to that, she was a bioinformatics staff scientist at the sequencing center of the National Human Genome Research Institute. She earned her Ph.D. in molecular biology at the University of South Carolina and conducted postdoctoral studies at Georgetown University in Washington DC.
