Biographical Sketch: Guoqin Yu, Ph.D.

Guoqin Yu, Ph.D., is a program director in the Division of Biophysics, Biomedical Technology and Computational Biosciences. She administers grants in computational genomics, modeling research for infectious disease dynamics, and the National Science Foundation/NIGMS BioMath program.

Prior to joining NIGMS, Yu was a scientific review officer at the NIH Center for Scientific Review. Before NIH, she was an assistant professor at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where she studied the interaction of human genome, microbiome,​ and other exposures in lung/gastric cancer etiology and progression.

Yu received her Ph.D. in ecology, evolution and population genetics from Washington University in St. Louis, and conducted her postdoctoral training in bioinformatics and cancer epidemiology​.
