Joseph Gindhart, Ph.D., is chief of the Developmental and Cellular Processes Branch in the
Division of Genetics and Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology. He oversees research grants involving motor proteins, cytoskeletal filaments, intracellular transport, and protein quality control and Medical Scientist Training Program training grants. Prior to joining NIGMS, Gindhart was an associate professor in the department of biology at the University of Richmond and an assistant professor at the University of Massachusetts Boston. Gindhart earned a B.A. in biology from the University of Pennsylvania and a Ph.D. in genetics from Indiana University. He conducted postdoctoral research at Harvard University and University of California, San Diego.
