Biographical Sketch: Charles Ansong, Ph.D.

Charles Ansong, Ph.D., is a program director in the Biochemistry and Bio-related Chemistry Branch in the Division of Pharmacology, Physiology, and Biological Chemistry. He administers grants in the research areas of bioenergetics (energy-transducing enzymes of the mitochondria), trace metal transport and homeostasis, and redox reactions and oxidative stress. Before joining NIGMS, Ansong served as staff scientist and team lead for biostructure and function at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland, Washington. He earned a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Rochester, New York.
