Biographical Sketch: Chris Chao, Ph.D.

Chris Chao, Ph.D., is a program director in the Division of Pharmacology, Physiology, and Biological Chemistry, where he administers research grants in injury and critical illness, wound healing, and signal transduction. He also manages career development awards in injury and critical illness and institutional predoctoral training grants in Systems and Integrative Biology. 

Prior to joining NIGMS, he was a principal investigator in the Viral and Rickettsial Diseases Department, Naval Medical Research Center. He earned a B.S. degree in chemistry from National Tsing-Hua University in Taiwan and a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Utah State University. He conducted postdoctoral research in the Laboratory of Biochemistry, which became the Biochemistry and Biophysics Center at the NHLBI.
