Prior to joining NIGMS, Sinha was the Jordan A. Engberg Presidential professor of chemistry and biochemistry at North Dakota State University, Fargo. There, in addition to teaching, she directed a multidisciplinary research program employing a broad range of structural, biophysical, and biochemical techniques to investigate the mechanism of autophagy proteins and their regulation by cellular and viral proteins. Previously, she was also faculty in the department of internal medicine, division of infectious diseases, at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
Sinha earned an M.S. in biotechnology from the University of Poona and a Ph.D. in biological sciences specializing in biochemistry and molecular biology from Purdue University.
