Biographical Sketch: Alvin Yeh, Ph.D.

Alvin Yeh, Ph.D., is a program director in the Division of Biophysics, Biomedical Technology, and Computational Biosciences​. He oversees NIGMS Technology Development grants, Biomedical Technology Development and Dissemination grants, and grants that develop technologies for microscopy and imaging, including probes and reporters and hardware and methods, and for investigating and manipulating cells through manipulation of DNA and RNA.

Yeh was previously an associate professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Texas A&M University, where, in addition to teaching, he directed a research program founded on the development of microscopy technologies utilizing ultrashort optical pulses to address problems in genetics, development, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine. Yeh earned a B.S.E. in chemical engineering from the University of Michigan and a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of California at Berkeley. He performed postdoctoral research at the Beckman Laser Institute and Medical Clinic at the University of California, Irvine.
