Biographical Sketch: Marie Harton, Ph.D.

Marie Harton, Ph.D., is a program director in the Division of Training and Workforce Development​. She manages grants in the Undergraduate Research Training Initiative for Student Enhancement (U-RISE), and predoctoral research training grants in Cellular, Biochemical and Molecular Sciences​ (T32). As part of the NIH Diversity Program Consortium​ (DPC)​, she manages grants in the Building Infrastructure Leading to Diversity (BUILD)​ and Sponsored Programs Administration Development (SPAD)​​ portfolios. She also manages grants mainly in the chemical biology and chemical synthetic methods portfolios in the ​Division of Pharmacology, Physiology, and Biological Chemistry (PPBC).

Prior to joining NIGMS, Harton was a program officer at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine and an American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Science and Technology Policy Fellow at the National Science Foundation. 

Harton completed her B.S. in chemistry at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Ph.D. in chemistry at Columbia University, and postdoctoral training at the National Cancer Institute.
