Biographical Sketch: Zuzana Justinova, M.D., Ph.D.

Zuzana Justinova, M.D., Ph.D., is a program director in the Division of Pharmacology, Physiology, and Biological Chemistry, where she administers a portfolio of research grants in the area of anesthesiology, perioperative pain, and membrane channels. She also co-directs the Diversity Supplements Program​ and manages career development awards​ and institutional postdoctoral training grants.

Prior to joining NIGMS, Justinova was a staff scientist in the Behavioral Neuroscience Research Branch at the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), where she conducted preclinical research on drug addiction and medication development. Prior to that, Justinova was a research assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Justinova earned her M.D. and Ph.D. in medical pharmacology at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic. She was a postdoctoral fellow at NIDA.
