Stephanie Hicks, Ph.D., is a program director in the Division of Biophysics, Biomedical Technology and Computational Biosciences. She oversees grants in the areas of biomedical technology development, research resources, and structural biology.

Before joining NIGMS, Hicks was a scientific review officer at the Center for Scientific Review. Prior to CSR, she was a biologist and laboratory manager at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. She examined the regulation of mRNA turnover by the tristetraprolin family of RNA-binding proteins.

Hicks received a Ph.D. in biochemistry and cellular and molecular biology from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and conducted her postdoctoral research at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she performed structural, biochemical, and cellular studies to understand the mechanism of regulation of phospholipase C isozymes.
