Division of Biophysics, Biomedical Technology, and Computational Biosciences (BBCB) – Health Scientist Administrator (Program Officer)

We’re seeking a highly qualified Program Officer for our Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Branch in the Division of Biophysics, Biomedical Technology, and Computational Biosciences (BBCB). The chosen candidate will be responsible for the scientific and administrative management of a portfolio of research grants, and will stimulate, plan, advise, direct, and evaluate program activities related to their field of expertise.

The BCB supports research and training programs in developing bioinformatics and computational approaches that join biology with computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, data science, and physics. The Branch also manages the Models of Infectious Disease Agent Study (MIDAS) program and collaborates with other NIH entities on Bioinformatics and Data Science and with the National Science Foundation to support a program in mathematical biology (BioMath).

Applicants should have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree from an accredited college or university. Individuals with a background in developing and/or applying computational approaches in solving biomedical problems are strongly encouraged to apply. Familiarity with NIH extramural funding as an applicant, reviewer, or NIH scientific administrator is a plus, and outstanding written and oral communication skills are essential.
