Virtual Meeting for Bridges Programs Applicants

We’re pleased to announce a virtual “office hour” on August 16 for potential applicants for our Bridges to the Baccalaureate (B2B) and Bridges to the Doctorate (B2D) research training programs.

B2B develops a diverse pool of research-oriented undergraduates who transition from associate to baccalaureate degree-granting institutions and complete a baccalaureate STEM degree, positioning them to pursue research-oriented biomedical higher degree programs or enter careers in the biomedical research workforce.

Funding Opportunity: Native American Research Centers for Health (NARCH)

We’re pleased to share that the notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) for the Native American Research Centers for Health (NARCH) program (PAR-23-166) has been reissued. NARCH supports federally recognized American Indian/Alaska Native Tribes and Tribal colleges or universities, Tribal health programs, and Tribal organizations. The program funds health-related research, research career enhancement, and research infrastructure-enhancement activities. This NOFO is led by NIGMS with additional participating NIH institutes, centers, and offices.

A NARCH award is for up to 5 years with an annual budget of up to $1.3 million in direct costs. The first NARCH application due date is July 8, 2024.

We’re pleased to announce the notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) for our interactive digital media (IDM) program (PAR-23-213). This NOFO supports eligible small business concerns to develop IDM biomedical science resources for pre-college students and teachers. The products should engage users with interactive learning experiences, thus enhancing interest in learning more about biomedical research and in developing problem-solving skills. The first application receipt date is September 5, 2023.

Funding Opportunity: Continuation of the ESI MIRA Program

We’re pleased to share the notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) (PAR-23-145) to provide sustained support for biomedical research through our Maximizing Investigators’ Research Award (MIRA) (R35) program for early stage investigators (ESIs). This NOFO allows applications from ESIs proposing research within NIGMS' scientific mission.

Funding Opportunity: Biomedical Technology Optimization and Dissemination Program

We’re pleased to share the notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) for our biomedical technology optimization and dissemination (BTOD) centers (RM1) (PAR-23-110). The goals of the BTOD centers are to optimize state-of-the-art, NIGMS mission-relevant, late-stage technologies, and to disseminate these technologies to both experts and nonexperts in biomedical research for their broad use. A BTOD center may focus on optimizing a single technology or multiple integrated technologies. Community engagement activities should result in broad dissemination of the optimized technologies for the research community’s sustainable use.

As part of NIH’s UNITE initiative to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in biomedical research, we’re pleased to announce the release of the notice of funding opportunity (NOFO): Instrumentation Grant Program for Resource-Limited Institutions (RLI-S10) (PAR-23-138). The RLI-S10 program aims to enhance research capacity and educational opportunities at resource-limited institutions by providing funds to purchase modern, scientific instrumentation. Applications may propose purchase of instruments that support basic, translational, clinical, or biomedically related behavioral science. The instruments may be used in formal courses for teaching purposes as well as for research projects.
